The University of Chicago Held Its Information Session at SHSID
On March 14, the Xianmian Annex Auditorium buzzed with excitement from a college information session hosted by the University of Chicago. Information sessions serve as an effective way for students to get a deeper glimpse into the culture, opportunities, and pathways of higher education. They provide a greater sense of insight beyond websites and brochures, allowing more personalized interactions and direct Q&A with admissions officers.
This spring, the only information session of UChicago held in Shanghai took place in SHSID. During the session, the admissions officer, Ms. Wang, started by introducing the college curriculum and the wide array of majors and minors that students could take. As a school praised for its strong emphasis on interdisciplinary studies, UChicago's curriculum was particularly enticing to SHSID students eager to explore diverse pathways. Furthermore, Ms. Wang also introduced many additional opportunities, such as the renowned Jeff Metcalf internship program, and the 60+ study abroad programs that UChicago has to offer.
Further information about the admissions process was provided at the end along with an open Q&A for all members of the audience. Parents and students alike were eager to ask about life at UChicago, posing many insightful questions about campus life, student mental wellness, accommodations, course selection, personal statements, and also living in Chicago in general.
As students left the information session, they carried with them not only a wealth of new insight but also a heightened sense of purpose and possibility. This UChicago info session was not just a checkpoint in the college application process, it was also a chance for students to explore their future options with confidence and clarity as they navigate the exciting and endless endeavors ahead.
