Grade 10: Course Introduction
For the second CAS period of March 6, all of the sophomores gathered at the Zhentao Lecture Hall for advice from the juniors and seniors who selected different courses. The older students introduced the course structures and analyzed their own course selections as examples. The IB students went first, opening the lecture with the declaration: “IB is not as hard as you think it is”. Then, they explained how to do well in the IBDP curriculum: “Time management is very important. In IB, if you miss one deadline, you are going to miss everything after”. Finally, they used their own course selection as an example to show their younger students and shared their experiences with their respective courses.
The AP students’ and A-Level students’ lectures were similarly structured. The AP students had much more freedom for course selection, as the AP system does not pose any regulations on course selection, but faced equally rigorous challenges as the IB students in terms of test-preparing and time management. Lastly, the A-Level students introduced the A-Level course structure in detail. After this sharing session, sophomores leave the lecture hall with a new level of knowledge for their future course choices.
