Puxi Campus G8|Setting Goals for the new Semester
Setting goals and reinforcing school discipline are both crucial to a successful year. In the first YD class of the semester, the 8th grade students laid down their new goals and were re-educated on school rules, bringing a great start for a new semester of learning.
Setting reasonable goals is the foundation to doing all important things. First, based on the results of last semester's MAP tests, each student, with the guidance, communication, and assistance from the English teacher, set goals for their English learning for this semester. Specific skills to practice and improvement plans were established for weak areas in English learning, such as poetry appreciation and reading comprehension. Next, the 8th grade students reviewed the highs and lows of the previous semester, reflecting on their individual growth and achievements, as well as their mistakes and regrets. After earnest contemplation, the students set four new goals in four different areas: academics, activities, personal habits, and others. The goals set by the students were both achievable and ambitious. Among the goals set by the students, common themes included: reducing procrastination, minimizing electronic device usage, and improving grades. The goals set by the students will fuel their motivation as they move forward into the new semester.
The second part of the class was dedicated to educating the students on the school rules. The teachers emphasized the importance of the rules and the zero-tolerance policy for breaking them. These regulations were reinforced successfully among the students.
This YD class allowed the students to benefit in the areas of goal-setting and school rules, and we hope that it will prove fruitful and motivating as they commence a new chapter of learning.
