Puxi Campus G3| Meet a Lawyer!

February 29, 2024

The first two weeks of school have seen our third-grade students embark on a story about a missing pie. The fictional story of ‘The Trial of Cardigan Jones’ took the students deep into the heart of a trial that focused on finding the truth, and how each person inside a courtroom has an important part to play.

Grade 3 had the privilege of hosting a group of parents (whose children are third-grade students of SHSID) who are real-life lawyers! With eloquence and passion, they delivered an exceptional presentation that delved into the intricacies of the legal profession. Through real-life anecdotes and insightful explanations, they elucidated the multifaceted role of lawyers in upholding justice and maintaining societal order. From defending the rights of individuals to shaping legislation, the parents painted a vivid picture of the importance of their profession in both Chinese and American contexts.

As the presentation unfolded, the children were captivated by the breadth of responsibilities shouldered by lawyers. They learned about the rigorous process of analyzing cases, conducting research, and crafting compelling arguments in courtrooms. Moreover, the parents highlighted the pivotal role of lawyers in safeguarding human rights and promoting equity within communities. By weaving together personal experiences and legal principles, they instilled in the young audience a profound appreciation for the complexities inherent in the practice of law.

The impact of the parents' visit extended far beyond the confines of our school classrooms and auditorium. Empowered and inspired, the children departed with newfound aspirations and a deeper understanding of the world around them. Through their exemplary presentation, the parents not only demystified the legal profession but also ignited a spark of curiosity within each child, encouraging them to ponder their own future paths with optimism and ambition. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to these dedicated parents for sharing their expertise and igniting a passion for learning in our students.
