SHSID String Ensemble won the Gold Award at the 10th International Youth Art Festival 2024 in Berlin, Germany
During the winter holidays, the String Ensemble of SHSID participated in the 10th International Youth Art Festival of 2024 and achieved excellent results. Our ambitious, young talents walked away proudly with a glistening gold medal. This triumphant feat also marked the first time our students have participated in an international exchange activity since the global pandemic.
During this event, the string ensemble stood center-stage at the Berlin Philharmonic Concert Hall and performed three famous Chinese and foreign string works, which received warm response from the local audience. The string ensemble also performed for local citizens at St. Thomas's Church in Leipzig and the French Church in Berlin, where Bach worked during his lifetime. Additionally, a social performance was held in Vienna with the local municipal music school. During this visit, academic exchange activities were also held under the guidance of a professor from the University of Potsdam. Conducting master Knut Andreas fondl y exclaimed: "It is not easy to have such a high standard string ensemble in Chinese schools."
This experience allowed the students to fully submerse themselves in the charm of the "Music Hall" of the German and Austrian universities. It also stimulated their self-learning abilities, and made music an inseparable part of their "learning life". The exchange activities have laid a solid foundation for the development of school music education and talent cultivation in the future, and have also opened up new perspectives for students to learn and exchange music in the international context. In the future, we hope that our students can continue to tell the story of China on the world stage and continue to write a new chapter of international cultural exchange.
