Puxi Campus G8 | Service Learning Reflection
Service learning is a very important part of students’ school lives, connecting the knowledge from classroom with real-world experiences in social practice. On January 4th, the eighth-graders gathered together at Xianmian Auditorium and participated in a Service learning reflection assembly. Leaders from every service-learning program went on stage and presented their groups’ achievements of this semester.
There are 25 service-learning groups that attended the assembly. Recently, several new service groups have been added, including Remarkable Non-heritage, Tales for Tomorrow, PRIMO, Sunshine Club, Love+, Astrolabe, and Luminova. Tales for Tomorrow recorded many podcasts for the Shanghai Media Group, and published several magazines in school, which gained a good reputation among students. Sci Academy produced short, scientific articles that were published on their Wechat account, and organized a charity sale for their health calendar. The tutoring group organized review sessions for students, providing a platform for questions and support, while the news group, photography group, and artistic media group worked to document school events in various forms and published them on the SHSID Wechat account and website for teachers, students, and public figures to read.
After the reflection and reporting session, through a vote by all eighth-grade teachers and students, the following groups stood out and were honored with gold and silver awards.
Congratulations to the service-learning groups for their well-deserved recognition. We believe that the outcomes of this semester's service will provide valuable experience for the innovation and development of all groups in the coming term. We look forward to the marvelous work and progress of each group in the next semester!
The service-learning group project is a practical requirement for all eighth-grade students. The time they devote to service outside of class will becomes a part of their self-awareness and personal growth in the long run. Engaging in social service learning activities enhances students' communication and leadership skills, fortifies their sense of social responsibility, and ignites their interest in practical societal engagement. The aim of service learning activities os to create invaluable practical experiences for students, build their character, and make them become more responsible global citizens.
