SHSID Chinese Debate Team Won the Championship in the "International Chinese Debate Invitational"

This competition attracted 168 high school representative teams from 17 provinces and municipalities across the country, as well as countries and regions including Australia, Singapore, and Malaysia, showcasing the strongest debating skills at the high school level. Invited to participate in September 2023, our Chinese Debate Team underwent meticulous preparation, successfully advancing to the top 16 and entering the offline competition stage. On November 24th, under the guidance of Coach Yang Xinying, six team members traveled to Jiangxi, engaging in heated discussions on social media, MBTI personality theory, Wang Yangming's philosophy, and other topics with representatives from other schools. After intense competition, they ultimately emerged victorious, claiming the championship in the high school category. In addition, all participating members from our school were awarded the title of Outstanding Debater in individual matches, with Vincent from 11th grade earning the prestigious title of the single Best Debater throughout the competition.

Behind these outstanding achievements is the hard work and dedication of all members of the Shanghai High School International Division's Chinese Debate Team and Coach Yang Xinying. Since its establishment in January 2021, the team has achieved various honors, including the 2021 Chinese Debate World Cup Shanghai Regional Championship, 2022 National Primary and Secondary School Chinese Debate Championship U19 Third Place, etc. As a pioneering debating team, the members of the Chinese Debate Society have independently offered an Academy debate course within the school. They have also actively participated in interdisciplinary collaboration with other subjects during school-themed days such as MIX Day, Physics Day, and Bit Day. Additionally, they have successfully organized the high school newcomer debate competition within the school for three consecutive years, contributing compelling content to bilingual debate competitions within the school. Recently, the Shanghai Education Television program "After School Teachers" also interviewed and reported on the Shanghai High School International Division's Chinese Debate Team and Coach Yang Xinying. The Chinese Debate Society not only enhances the members' argumentative and expressive skills through internal and external competitions but also emphasizes the cultivation of their comprehensive qualities, social responsibility, and a spirit of service to the school and community.

Behind the achievement of winning the championship in the "International Chinese Debate Invitational" is the embodiment of our school's education philosophy that supports personalized development for every student. Let us extend our collective congratulations!
