High School Math: Lecture on Mathematical Culture and Mathematics Teaching

On December 27, on the occasion of Professional Development Day, the high school math department invited Professor Wang from East China Normal University to give a fascinating lecture on "Mathematical Culture and Mathematics Teaching". The lecture covered five dimensions: knowledge origins, disciplinary connections, societal roles, aesthetic entertainment, and diverse cultures, and it was well-received by the teachers.

Professor Wang showcased the mathematical wisdom of ancient scholars through rich examples and humorous expressions, emphasizing the importance of mathematical thinking and methods. Professor Wang also proposed the concept of "blank space creative teaching" and emphasized the proportionate use of blank spaces, integrating the reconstruction of mathematical history into teaching content implicitly. The teachers in the mathematics group gained a lot from this humorous lecture. Finally, Professor Wang encouraged everyone to establish a professional learning community and engage in more practical applications of integrating mathematical culture into mathematics teaching.
