Alumni Talk: Heartwarming Winter,Dialogue with Alumna
On December 20th at noon, Nancy Zhang, a fellow alumna from the Class of 2008, returned once again to her alma mater. Seizing this opportunity, she engaged in a profound exchange and sharing session with the current junior and senior students. Though the time was brief, it felt like a warm winter sun, creating a heartfelt atmosphere.
Firstly, Nancy shared her academic journey and professional experiences, swiftly moving into the question-and-answer session. Meeting the alumna who graduated in 2008, students expressed their respect, but soon the sense of distance and age difference narrowed during the communication.
While addressing various concerns of the students, Nancy mentioned that if she were to go back to high school, she might consider making different choices with a broader perspective. Drawing from her own experiences, she conveyed to everyone that in the pursuit of dreams, balancing academics, health, family, and relationships is also crucial.
When asked about issues related to the application season, Nancy shared her perspectives. She encouraged students to demonstrate passion for a particular field, whether in research or service, and to have aspirations and goals. Furthermore, she earnestly emphasized the importance of "gratitude", stating that regardless of the life stage, one should cherish the people and events around them. She hoped that every encounter would be positive rather than a farewell with regrets.
In the final moments of the exchange, a student who had already received an early admission offer sought advice from Nancy on planning for the last half year of high school. Nancy spoke animatedly, sharing, "At that time, all my energy was focused on one thing, which was organizing an art exhibition and charity fair with 12 schools in Shanghai. You can ask Mr. Ma about it. Of course, as graduation approached, there were still IB and AP exams, but basically, at that time, 'Art Association' was the dominant thought in my mind."
The students listened attentively, gaining much inspiration. The brief reunion concluded after a group photo, but the valuable words of Nancy continued to resonate in their ears.
