Grade 9 Assembly: Persistence and Passion on the Road

December 21, 2023

During the Grade-9 assembly on December 19, Jenny from Class 9 (5) presented a meaningful personal sharing about her swimming experience.

She started by introducing the reasons of why she initially chose to swim. Jenny said that she originally started practicing swimming not because of her curiosity or love for it, but simply because she was told by her parents to build up her physical fitness and get more exercise. Then, she introduced the first three years of her swimming journey, stating that she was not good at swimming from the beginning, but accumulated experience through long-term practice. Next, she described the process of developing actual interest in swimming and her training status during the two years of the pandemic. Finally, she described her swimming life after truly starting professional training as well as the hardships and efforts she devoted behind achieving countless honors in swimming. Perhaps everyone only saw the various awards she had won but were ignorant of the innumerable and unknown challenges like her muscle soreness, lack of sleep, and injuries and setbacks during practice.

Through this brief but well-prepared assembly sharing, students have come to understand the many efforts, sweat, and perseverance that a person needs to put in to achieve success and the principle of "one minute on stage takes ten years of good practice behind stage".
