Grade 12 Assembly: Sharing of the "Duke of Edinburgh" Awards
At the December 1 Assembly, senior students Don and Jonathan shared their transformative experiences as participants in the "Duke of Edinburgh" program in a compelling presentation. They began with a comprehensive overview of the "Duke of Edinburgh" Awards, which are categorized into three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Each level of the award requires participants to complete activities across three key areas, including volunteering, physical recreation, and skill development. These components are designed to encourage holistic growth in young individuals.
They first introduced the crowd to the Silver Official Adventurous Journey (AJ), focusing on how tourism-related income influenced rural youth's decisions on whether or not to leave their traditional rural lifestyles. The investigation centered around the Huizhou-Hangzhou ancient trail, highlighting economic and social factors that influence young people's choices.
Following the Silver AJ, they discussed the Gold AJ, examining the relationship between local infrastructure advancements and tourism development around the Huizhou-Hangzhou ancient trail. This part of the presentation shed light on how tourism can influence regional development and infrastructure improvements.
In the final part of their presentation, Don and Jonathan reflected on the practical aspects of their experiences during these journeys. They shared insights into their daily lives, encompassing challenges and learnings in food, accommodation, travel, and overall lifestyle adaptations. Their narrative provided a comprehensive understanding of the real-world implications and personal growth opportunities afforded by the "Duke of Edinburgh" program.
