Grades 9-10: 2023 Blackout

On the evening of November 17, the annual Blackout was held in Zhentao Building, under the careful preparation of ASB and its helpers. While Halloween has long passed, the spirit of Blackout did not diminish----as darkness fell, people excitedly entered ZTB, now an “Insanitorium” with numerous activities to immerse in, including board games, haunted house, bars, and more. Students dressed up in different costumes of their choice that included Halloween costumes or cosplays of their favorite characters.

The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the Haunted House where students entered in groups and were given a thrilling experience as they went through jump scares and all sorts of different attractions that aligned with the overall concept behind the event: the “Insanitorium”. The event successfully scared many who entered, even those who exhibited confidence, mostly due to the hardworking, dedicated ASB helpers.

While the Haunted House was among the most popular, there were also many other activities available. Some students decided to simply sit down at the movie theatre or the board game areas and chat with their friends and peers, playing games and drinking beverages taken from the bar.

In general, the SHSID Blackout 2023 was a successful event where students got to spend an enjoyable time with their peers, interact with new friends, and engage in unique activities. And it would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication put forth by the ASB members and helpers.
