Grade 10: Assembly—Participation Experience of iGEM

On Wednesday, October 15, 2023, the tenth-grade students once again gathered in the Lecture Hall in Zhentao Building to attend the assembly. The grade head teacher, Ms. Yu, began by introducing a few lectures and house programs related to pets, neurology, and lab instrument analysis. STEMDoge then introduced their Mole Day activities, which would include a scavenger hunt for dog models, voting for favorite chemistry lab coats, and two offline exhibitions, where chemistry experiment demonstrations would be presented. After that, Yuna from class 10(9) presented her experiences with iGEM, a synthetic biology team competition where participants need to make a wiki page, film a promo video, present their experiment, and answer related questions. She then reflected on some of her major takeaways, including effective time management and active participation, encouraging more students to try iGEM too.
