Puxi Campus G7 | Autumn Field Trip to Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden

On the morning of November 9th, the seventh grade students of Shanghai High School International Division went to Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden under the leadership of their teachers to have an autumnal tour. The students were very excited about the long-awaited field trip.

The students departed shortly after PB class, embarking on the school bus to Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden. Prior to beginning their journey, the students had already been divided into several groups, so as soon as they arrived at the botanical garden, they couldn't wait to start the free exploration activities with their group members. As they took in their surroundings, they instantly began to feel the unique charm of the plants in this beautiful season.

Can you find the “hanging gardens” in the greenhouse? Which plant can live for 1,000 years and only grow two leaves during its entire lifespan? Which plant can be used to produce oil in the jungle? Using guiding questions such as these, the teachers carefully selected rare plants from several pavilions to design a unique scavenger hunt. The students had to search for specific plants in the greenhouses according to the guidelines and take at least 10 corresponding photos. This activity encouraged the students to be “hands-on” and actively involved in this journey of discovery. They picked up the cameras, concentrated on finding the target plants and pursuing the mysteries and beauty of nature.

This unforgettable autumn outing experience added a splash of color to the students' growth and learning. Every student was full of energy and enthusiasm, leaving behind wonderful memories. On the way back, everyone was still immersed in the trip, happily discussing what they had seen and heard, and sharing interesting photos with one other. After the trip, they planned to make posters or VLOGs cataloguing their experiences, so that more people could feel the joy and the magic of the Chenshan Botanical Gardens. Let's look forward to the students' wonderful presentations, and seeing how they bring the autumnal scenery and power to life!
