Awards of 2023 Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC)
On September 23rd 2023, students from SHSID participated in the Australian Mathematics Competition online or in their respective AMC exam center. Today, we are proud to announce the amazing accolades received.
The Australian Mathematics Trust (AMT) is a national non-profit organization whose purpose is to enrich the teaching and learning of mathematics for students of all standards. AMT holds mathematic and informatic competitions, administers enrichment activities, conducts workshops for students and teachers, and publishes books on mathematical enrichment for both Australian and international students.
The Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) was introduced in Australia in 1978 as the first Australia-wide mathematics competition for students. It has become the single largest event on the Australian education calendar, allowing students to attempt the same tasks on the same day in over 32 countries around the globe.
The awards for the tournament are:
Peter O'Halloran Award for Excellence, which will be awarded to students with a full score
Prize: top 0.3% of grades A-E
High Distinction: top 3% of grades A-D, top 5% of grade E
Distinction: top 20% A-D, top 25% E
Credit: 55% of grades A-D, top 60% of grade E
A special shout out to the students from our school for their outstanding performance during the AMC. They have won 4 Peter O'Halloran Awards for Excellence, 4 National Prizes, 13 National High Distinction awards, and 87 National Distinction awards from the exam. A partial list of winners as follows:
