G8 |YD Class-Stress Management
On October 19th, during the Youth Development class, eighth-grade students learned how to effectively manage the pressure of daily academic life. With mid-term exams approaching, learning how to cope with stress properly is beneficial for students.
The lecture was filled with engaging and interesting activities, allowing students’ creativity to develop while learning about this important topic. Students first shared their own previous experiences with stress with fellow peers through an icebreaker provided by the teachers, creating a relaxing environment in the classroom. It sparked conversations among the students, helping them to engage in meaningful discussions about this topic and engage in self-reflection.
Following the discussion, students watched a video on stress management. The video
taught them valuable advice on the negative physical and psychological impacts stress can bring them, and the ways they can deal with it to bring this impact to a minimum. These two activities allowed the students to learn about stress from both scientific and anecdotal perspectives. The teacher then provided a worksheet for the students to complete to analyze what they had learned from these two sources, and what methodology they would implement to manage their stress levels.
The students all felt that this session was very inspiring and helped them find effective ways to alleviate stress. Stress undoubtedly exists as an inherent part of everyone's life, and learning to cope with it scientifically enables us to better face challenges of this nature.
