Grade 10: Assembly - Diverse Club Recruitments

During P&B on Wednesday, September 20, SHSID sophomores gathered in the Lecture Hall for their weekly grade-wide assembly. Teachers representing the Writing Center and the creative writing PBL came to the stage to introduce the resources SHSID can provide to aid students with academic writing and future opportunities for student writers to submit their work or attend writing competitions. After that, students from the SHSID Times and the Linguistics Club were invited to introduce their organizations and recruit new members. Juniors and seniors from these clubs explained what they had learned and gained over the years as members themselves and urged more sophomores to join them. The assembly ended with an ASB helper recruitment speech from two members of the current 10th-grade ASB – Jennifer and Ray – who explained why working as a helper is both a meaningful experience and a beneficial one. All the speakers greatly impressed students and this week’s assembly ended in applause.
