G7 | YD Class | Toxic Friendship
In the Youth Development class on September 14, Grade 7 students discussed the topic of "Friendship and How to Communicate with Friends." For students, friendship is an essential aspect of their daily lives, and they often spend more time with their close friends than with their parents and teachers. However, friendships can be categorized into "positive" and "negative" types, making it crucial for every student to differentiate between genuine and harmful connections. True friendship can bring happiness, foster a sense of belonging, and boost self-esteem. Conversely, "toxic friendships" tend to make people feel uncomfortable, erode self-awareness, and harm mental health.
Through video analysis and real-life scenarios, the students engaged in warm discussions to identify the characteristics of authentic and "negative friendships." They recognized that distancing themselves from “toxic friendships” is essential to protect their well-being. Simultaneously, they learned the importance of displaying empathy and sincerity in their interactions with others.
In a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, the G7 students learned how to distinguish between "healthy and harmful friendships" in their interpersonal relationships. This deepened their understanding of effective communication with friends. When interacting with others, students were encouraged not to be self-centered or overly submissive. Building harmonious relationships requires sincerity, empathy, and mutual understanding. It is our hope that every student can develop more genuine friendships!
