G3｜Pudong Campus：What did we learn within our 2 hours at the Pudong Fire Safety Education Center?

Coinciding with September Safety Month, fire safety is naturally an essential topic. This week, Zhangjiang's third graders went to the Fire Safety Museum to learn more about fire safety.

This is a fire safety education center located on Rushan Road in Pudong. First opened to the public in November 2022, it covers an area of about 300 square meters. It is also a district-level fire science education base in Pudong New Area. Right after getting off the school bus, the students were already awed and intrigued by a group of firefighters in rescue uniforms.

During the visit, the firemen not only introduced the students to the background of Lujiazui Fire Station, but also demonstrated practical firefighting knowledge in the simulated combustion laboratory. They explained things such as the three elements to keep fires from starting, and ways to cut off fire sources. The students were also invited to interact with the instructor to determine potential fire-starting hazards that are common in life. In addition, the students learned about the combustion characteristics of solids, liquids and gases, and were introduced to the corresponding array of fire extinguishing devices, and how and when to use each type.

After the science talk, the students went to the community fire hazard simulation area, watched the community fire video with the lecturer, and found out many hidden dangers that lead to fires together.

After leaving the indoor exhibition hall, it was time for an exciting outdoor experience. One by one, the students tried to use the fire hose by holding up the heavy fire extinguishing water gun and aiming the jet stream at the "heart of the fire". As the water rushed out, the students were clearly excited, and felt the hard work of firefighting. The most special thing was that they were able to escape from the smoke tunnel as if they were at the scene of a fire.

Through this safety education, the students learned to understand the bravery and skill held by firefighting professionals, as well as the importance of fire prevention.
