Grades 11-12: ASB Elections Held

A relentless drizzle may have hung over SHSID's campus on September 13, but it did little to dampen the spirit of unity and resilience displayed by students as they gathered in the Xianmian Auditorium to cast their votes in the ASB elections. One after another, candidates, each competing passionately for a chance to lead their fellow students, took to the stage to deliver impassioned speeches that offered insight into their visions for the school year ahead.

In a room filled with anticipation and the palpable energy of youth, the candidates showcased their dedication to SHSID and their unique plans to enhance the student experience. The speeches were a testament to the depth of talent and diversity of thought among the contenders.

After the speeches came the round of interviews, where students gave impromptu speeches answering questions they randomly had picked. To wrap up, each candidate was given thirty seconds to give a concluding statement about themselves. The candidates used their creativity to capture the viewers’ hearts. The performances included singing solo, singing in chorus, giving anime recommendations, and giving words of love. This truly displayed the students’ creative and diverse natures. They were not restricted by normal rules; rather, they knew how to think outside the box and deliver their points in unique and entertaining ways.

Throughout the duration, although the candidates were competitors with each other, they were willing to applaud and cheer with their full hearts whenever any of the candidates ended their speeches or made a joke. Whatever the results of this election be, this experience has already proven to be a memorable one for students.
