Puxi G4-5:Career Day Outing
In early summer, the fourth and fifth grade students of SHSID Puxi Campus had a long-awaited Career Day activities. The Career Day activities not only include parents' career sharing in the school, but also provide students with a variety of off-campus study and experience projects, bringing real and vivid industry introduction and inspiration to students.
Grade 4
The fourth grade classes went to seven different places to visit and experience the work scenes of various industries. The students of Class 4 (1) came to Shanghai Grand Theatre to learn about its long history and development. The students walked into the various exhibition halls of the Grand Theatre and learned about the theatre Settings required for different artistic performances. The opening ceremony of the Shanghai International Film Festival was about to start, and students had the opportunity to have a glimpse in advance.
The students of Class 4 (2) and Class 4 (6) went to NIO House, located in Shanghai Tower, for a scientific and technological exploration tour. The students first learned the history of the development of new energy vehicles and the manufacturing process of the body, the way to replenish the energy of electric vehicles, and also had an interactive dialogue with the intelligent robot NOMI. At the scene, the students had a close experience of the intelligent technology factory and marveled at the "intelligent manufacturing center" filled with children's fun and technology created by tens of thousands of building blocks.
The students of Class 4 (3) and Class 4 (5) learned about brand marketing. First, the students learned what a brand was and how to build a brand image through a lecture. The students of Class 4 (3) also learned the whole process of brand promotion from zero to one with an event example, and came to the “Gucci Cosmos" collection exhibition located in the West Bund Art Museum, enjoying fashion and beauty, but also actually witnessed the landing of a brand promotion creativity and design. The students of Class 4 (5) held a daily dressing competition in the clothing store, and shared their dressing ideas and creativity in groups, which was well received by models and designers.
The students of Class 4 (4) and Class 4 (7) visited the Xuhui Campus and Minhang Campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University respectively. Class 4 (4) listened to Qian Xuesen's remarkable deeds in Qian Xuesen Library. Through a copy of the manuscript, photos and objects, they got to know the life of the great man and felt the noble spirit and outstanding contributions of the Chinese scientist. Class 4 (7) visited the Laboratory of School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Lee Chung Dao Library and Kwong Kai Observatory, which inspired students to be curious about science and explore the unknown. The students also learned how airplanes work and flew small model drones on the lawn.
The students of Class 4 (8) came to a famous interior design company to understand the daily work of interior designers and the development process of design. The students also came into contact with various decoration materials, such as carpet, floor, wallpaper, marble, etc., and learned about their role and effect on interior decoration. The designer also showed many examples of hotel design. The students were amazed at the amazing effect of the creativity and design of the materials in front of them, and felt the importance of aesthetics in our lives.
Grade 5
During Career Day, the grade 5 students visited the Shanghai Cultural Square. During this visit, students had the opportunity to gain an insight into the interior facilities of the theatre, behind the scenes of a musical and to learn about the architectural history of the Shanghai Cultural Square.
The venue's stunning design combines culture and art, impressing students with its grandeur and attention to detail. During the staff's presentation, they saw the entire 1,949 seats of the audience, arranged in an orderly manner; sharp light was cast through the shape of the lighting design, on the seats, on the walls and in the center of the stage, giving the whole atmosphere of the arena in grandeur and history. The students could not help but look forward to the spectacular images when the lights of the show came on. Looking at every detail of the arena, every element was carefully designed to present a perfect combination of art and aesthetics, which was impressive and made the students interested in art and culture.
Theatre staff provided an immersive behind-the-scenes experience for students, teaching them basic techniques for stage presentation like lighting and choreography and answering their questions. The staff also shared their experience with planning and producing musicals, inspiring students to explore the theatre industry.
The students also learned about the different important roles that this theater has played in history. Students learned about the theatre's rich history — from its origins as a dog run and stock exchange to its current form as Shanghai Cultural Square. This exploration deepened their understanding of the cultural and artistic values of the venue, as well as Shanghai's local heritage and development.
By visiting the Shanghai Cultural Square, the grade 5 students learned about the working environment and content of performing arts and related professions, the different types of work needed behind a full-length play or musical, as well as the diverse performing arts forms such as theater, musicals, modern dance, and concerts, etc.
Through the Career Day outing activities, students understand the society from a new angle, broaden their horizons and deepen their connection with the society. We hope that students can gradually form their own career outlook, laying the groundwork for their future career path.
