G7-8: Service-Learning Reflection

May 29, 2023

Time flies like an arrow, and the Service-Learning project of this year is drawing to a close. On May 25th, the seventh and eighth-grade students of the SHSID gathered in the auditorium to reflect and report on their gains and losses from this year.

After a brief opening, the group leaders of groups rated as Gold and Silver Labels took turns to share their experiences of frustration when facing setbacks, as well as the satisfaction and emotion they felt after successfully completing their activities. They provided guidance and answers to questions for the seventh-grade students as well.

During this year, the eighth-grade students conveyed their concern and thinking about the world through various service-learning activities. The student-led "Voice Out" service-learning group started from scratch, created a public account, and regularly published articles on hot social topics, gaining a large number of students' attention and praise. The Qiming translation service-learning group held a "World Book Day" event and translated an entire book, allowing people from different language and cultural backgrounds to share knowledge. The Medi-shine went to Xianghuaqiao Primary School and Chongqing Dazu District to convey interesting and daily medical knowledge to local students. The Gazette sold magazines contributed and designed by members during lunch breaks and donated the proceeds to charities. The Smile Society sent 200 scarves knitted by all members to left-behind children in impoverished areas. The MFP organized a successful charity concert, with funds raised through the event being sent to those in need through several cooperative units.

Looking back at the details of the activity process again, the eighth-grade students are more grateful for the time and effort they have put in, and for the love and kindness they have received as a result. They also look forward to continuing to make efforts to make the world a better place in the future.

The seventh-grade students also benefited greatly from the Service-Learning project, which was like a bright light on their way to growth, bringing them endless inspiration and encouragement.
