Grade 10: Adventure Trip

On the breezy morning of May 24, SHSID Grade 10 students boarded the bus to Mogan Mountain. Mogan Mountain is a beautiful resort known for its natural beauty, most noteably its lush bamboo forests. It was a natural wonder favored by many who wished to get close to nature. To the tenth-grade students, a trip to Moganshan was not only a break from the concrete jungle of Shanghai, and also served a chance to connect with nature while practicing survivalism.

Adventure Challenge Courses

The adventure park offered a wide range of activities. Students participated in rock climbing, sky abseiling, obstacle courses, ziplines and many other challenge courses. With the comradery of teachers and classmates, students successfully completed all the challenges, and embodied educational experiences outside of the classroom!

Cooking and Camping

After a day of tiring challenges, the students returned at the base camp, but the work was far from over. They cooperated to cook dinner and build tents. The day was done, and the students slept in nature.

Biking, Hiking and Shelter Building

Students constructed bushcraft shelters, chairs, and tables with the aid of experienced coaches. Students worked together in groups and finished the tasks in an informed and efficient manner. With the beautiful bamboo mountain scenery, students set out for countryside biking, hiking and surviving. Students lent each other a hand and labored through the rugged terrain. They learned many valuable survival tips like purifying water and building campfires along the way.

Challenge PK Games

Finally, to conclude the Adventure Course, the tenth graders competed in a team challenge. Team spirits were high as everyone was proud of their accomplishments over the past two days.

End of the Trip

Before the students left, a group picture was taken to document this exciting experience. It will serves to remind them of all the hardships that they overcame as well as the friendships that made this journey truly memorable! The courage and friendship won during this journey will serve to strengthen their resolve as face difficulties in the future.
