Middle School Charity Concert: Stirring Our Hearts with the Power of Music
The tailored youth development and service-learning curriculum in the middle school cultivates students' growth mindset from the three dimensions of personal growth, social participation and global awareness, so as to make students become self-directed lifelong learners. In Grade8, students will join different Service Learning Groups and harvest tremendous growth.
On the evening of May 12th, students and parent representatives of SHSID Middle School Section gathered in the Drama classroom under the banner of music, raising donations to support the performers and spread the positive energy of charity.
During this charity concert, organized by MFP service-learning group, students from grades six, seven, and eight showcased their talents. From piano, to violin, to cello, classic pieces echoed through the room. The performers' superb musical skills seemed to have a magical power to soothe the soul, captivating the audience who were completely absorbed in the music. Finally, the charity concert ended with a jazz band's rendition of "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" and "See You Again."
The video at the end of the music concert was touching, with every frame showing the simple and innocent smiles of the children. Through many years of accumulation from G8 service-learning program, and the wholehearted contribution of every student and teacher, the funds raised have been delivered to those in need through multiple partner organizations. Among them are Indigo Charity, with which our Indigo service-learning group has collaborated for more than five years and was dedicated to creating learning and employment support for older people with mental disabilities; Uni-care, working with the Uni-Care service-learning group, which focuses on the artistic development of autistic children; the Qisheng Xinghai Ancient Song Chorus, in collaboration with the Qiming translation service -learning group; Here to Help Charity works with the Smile Charity service-learning group, focusing on the mental health of young people; Sanyuan Elementary School in Guizhou Province, in collaboration with the Dynamic Donation Organization (DDO) service-learning group; the Shanghai School for the Blind, in collaboration with Louver Shutter service-learning group, and Xiwang Elementary School in Dazu District, Chongqing, in collaboration with Medi-shine service-learning group.
This charity concert not only brought about the enjoyment of music but also united people together towards helping others. We e sincerely thank all the donors. Let us continue to pass on this love and illuminate the path forward for each other.
