Lin’gang Campus: Charity Fair — Love to Live, Love to Give
At 2:10 p.m. on May 11th, the East Shanghai High School's Campus Gym was filled with the melodies of the kids' choir. The Charity Fair of SHSID has finally returned after a three-year hiatus. With much anticipation and interest, the Lin’gang Campus Charity Fair began. Together, teachers, students, and parents created a beautiful composition that was filled with love.
It was noteworthy that the Charity Fair received the help of international students from the School of International Culture at Shanghai Ocean University, leaders and teachers from Shanghai High School East Campus, and other volunteers. With their help and encouragement, the Charity Fair became even more vibrant.
Children's Sweet and Soothing Voices
Before the charity fair began, the G2 children’s choir gave their first performance. The chorus, which wonderfully encapsulated the spiritual essence of the charity fair's motto: "love to live, love to give", left the audience moved.
Next, Ms. Pearson gave us a vivid introduction to the story of Cimeng Foundation. As the predecessor of Shanghai Healing Home, they brought together the energy of the whole community and built a bridge to deliver love and care to orphans and children, dedicated to "making community service borderless." “Today, we will be part of this energy and make contributions, also, we will organize a small donation ceremony for the representatives of students, teachers, and parents in order to help more orphaned children at the foundation's site.” The audience was moved after Ms. Pearsons speech, ready to start the fundraiser for children in need.
Small Stalls with Great Warmth
The children’s chorus brought everyone into the world of love, and the charity fair had officially kicked off. Each item was displayed on the stalls while students, parents, and teachers, scattered in all corners, suddenly brought life to the empty gym. We saw several stalls with not only stationery, books, decorations, snacks, and desserts, but also various colorful posters for promotion. As each beautifully packaged item and flavorful food was placed on the tables, kids started to shout:“Come and see, we have good and cheap things here, every penny donated represents a lot of love, helping to raise money for orphaned children." The charity fair was filled with enthusiastic voices, and each of the kids looked like experienced salespeople, attracting everyone's attention. Although an hour has passed, it was clear that the enthusiasm of the children did not diminish at all, and their faces were filled with satisfied smiles.
"They are all about me, no matter where, no matter who."
"This Charity Fair is so full of fun and meaning," one parent said, "However, rather than caring much about the amount I sell, I hold more value for my child’s involvement and experience throughout the entire process." This was the first time that students from Lin’gang Campus participated in a charity fair. Thanks to the tiny stalls connecting them to the larger community of business around the world, students have become aware that everyone can help those in need in some ways. Passion and love have the power to warm faraway people's hearts despite boundaries even like mountains and seas. The charity fair is like sowing a seed in children's hearts. It will eventually develop into a big tree called "love" with the watering and maintenance of teachers and parents.
