Grade 10 Assembly: Being a Female Athlete
In the morning of April 26, Mimi from 10(10) shared her experience as a female athlete. She introduced to the students the sport she has been obsessed with these past few years—rowing.
She shared some of her unforgettable experiences attending various competitions throughout China. She told the students that the most important thing one gets from competitions is not the awards but the experience and memories. Then, she started to talk about her hardships despite her love for this sport. She showed the blisters on her hands to the audience and described how she felt desperate when she could not catch up with other people. However, by actively training under her coaches’ and friends’ encouragement, her confidence and happiness grew from her improvements. She learned that it is important that one does not compare herself with other people, but only with herself.
Furthermore, Mimi said that rowing gives her the opportunity to make friends with a group of teammates who always wins or loses with her. Only when they merge together as a single soul, the boat could reach its fastest speed. Finally, she hoped that everyone could find a sport that they like to do.
