Social Science Department: PwC Company Visit

On April 21, SHSID students went to PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers) in the Qiantan Center of Pudong for a company visit. First, PwC staff introduced to the students the professional service industry, including PwC’s core businesses such as auditing and consulting services, as well as the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance) department established to promote sustainable development.

Then, the students followed the employees in groups to take a look at their working environment. The office is located on the 42nd floor of the Qiantan Center, where people can see and marvel at the buildings and river views on both sides of the Huangpu River. The employees were either in meeting rooms, the common area, or their workstations, focusing on their work at hand. As an important part of this visit, the workers of PwC also led the students to understand and experience the consulting business. Based on business cases, the students discussed in groups and used analytical tools and logical thinking to analyze a company's existing problems, and put forward reasonable strategies for the company. The cases included how to reduce the production cost of OPPO and how to improve the product quality of Freshippo, etc. The students had a lively discussion and made excellent presentations. This visit helped students understand the professional service industry, so as to make better major and career choices.
