Xianmian Lecture I: Approaching Dunhuang

In order to broaden students' horizons and enrich their knowledge, the Xianmian Lecture was reopened and the school will invite experts from various fields to share their stories with the students.

On April 11, Director Luoyao of the Dunhuang Academy came to SHSID and kindly shared the history of the Dunhuang Academy. The stories unfolded like paintings, and history felt like yesterday. It was the effort from both China and the West that helped achieve the splendid achievements of the Dunhuang Academy today. The professor not only discussed the history and origin of the Academy with the students, but also put forward new prospects for the future, striving to create a new pattern of transforming knowledge from merely understanding to applicating, reflecting the rich connotation of excellent Chinese culture. Finally, the professor warmly welcomed students to experience various rich and colorful Chinese cultural activities such as Chinese shadow puppetry in Dunhuang. "I look forward to seeing you again in Dunhuang," the professor said before concluding the speech.
