Middle School Section: National DI Competition Awards Winners

March 30, 2023

Recently, a good news came from the National DI (Destination Imagination) Competition: the team "Artistic Panda" from SHSID won the national first prize!

The team consists of seven students from the middle school section, namely Ava, Claire, Emily, Emma from the seventh grade, and Sophie, Albert and Victor from the eighth grade. All this year’s team members underwent a first experience of an offline DI. In the face of ferocious competition and strong competitors, they bravely marched in the direction of victory, and after defeating several obstacles, finally won the first prize.

As the competition returned back offline, the challenge became very difficult. This time, the team members were no longer facing cameras and familiar teachers in front of them. Instead, they left Shanghai and went to “No.1 City in the World” in Lang Fang, Hebei Province to improvise a play on an unfamiliar stage, which required students to have strong mental qualities and tolerance against great stress. However, the teachers and team members also enjoyed the process very much. Outside the competition, people strolled casually between venues, exchanged exquisite badges with students from all over the globe, gained unique friendships, and now owned golden memories. The EXPO exhibition pleased the team members even more. They completed a game or challenge at each stand, greeting the tasks without an earnest attitude, and leaving a mark of "SHSID" on the drawing board on display.

The trophy is the hard-earned fruit of the team members' unremitting efforts and perseverance. Every script they had edited repeatedly, every performance they had done with enthusiasm, and every night of hard training… all found their true answers at the awarding ceremony. The corollary of teamwork and creativity is the wonderful dawn of victory! The members of the “Artistic Panda” team will stride towards a broader future, creating their own marvelous worlds!
