Grades 11-12: Noontime Music Corner

After a long break, the Music Corner finally returned to the XM building during noontime on March 23, attracting a lot of students and teachers. The performances that day was brought by the Band Club, a student organization that provides a platform for the performance of rock songs, and on that day, they played songs from famous bands such as My Chemical Romance and Green Day. The infectious singing by the main singer Winola, the raucous strumming by the guitarists Derek and Serena, the muffled humming by the bassist Garrison, the passionate playing by the keyboardist Han, and the exhilarating drumming by the drummer Ray all mixed into a perfect harmony of emotions, and the audience all clapped and cheered for the performers after they finished their 40-minute performance.

Lunchtime Music Corner is a music project initiated by SHSID several years ago and will continue regularly afterward. It is a weekly event that provides a platform where musicians can show off their talents and simultaneously contribute to the musical atmosphere of the school. Music Corner will be open to any performers willing to perform in front of a crowd during lunchtime at the XianMian Building, and will also host special events in the future including singalongs and ‘guess the singer events’.

In early April, Music Corner will be hosting another range of performances, mainly focusing on singing. There will be performances by Band Academy, a course that aims to teach participants the essentials of the band, as well as many other groups. We look forward to these performances and hope that Music Corner can give us even more splendid, diverse performances for everyone to enjoy in the future.
