Pudong Campus: Winter Holiday Homework Showcase
In the early spring, the students of SHSID Pudong campus returned to their loving campus to begin a new term of growth. At the beginning of the school year, the children brought their teachers a "gift pack" of winter holiday homework with their own creative ideas. The students' work was brilliantly showcased, with knowledge and ornamental qualities together, as well as delicate and clever ideas combined. Let's take a look at what the children have prepared!
The Grade 1 students prepared a Chinese poster on the topic of good memories of holidays. They recorded the sports they did, the games they played, the life skills they learned and the things they did for their families. As for Math, the students made a unique February calendar based on their own personal schedule, which was both practical and beautiful.
Grade 2's math project was to recycle milk cartons to build houses. They turned ordinary milk cartons into banks, clock towers, candy houses, magic houses, tree houses, towns, space stations, etc. The Chinese topic was ‘Old Songs, New Songs', where students rewrote the lyrics of familiar children's songs and shared them together in class to appreciate the rhythmic beauty of Chinese characters.
Grade 3 students used their holiday time to design an exclusive 'Math Monopoly' game. They applied their knowledge of mathematics to the design of the games, showing off their typographic and design skills to make the games rich and beautiful. During the sharing session, the students had a lot of fun and a sense of achievement by playing the games they designed together.
In the Grade 4 Chinese winter holiday homework, students used elegant fonts and relevant drawings to showcase ancient poems in a beautiful way. Meanwhile, they also introduced an evocative food dish in graphic form, making it a real treat for the palate. As for the math homework, the students worked out a practical plan for their trip by the use of math knowledge and skills, such as calculating, planning, and comparing.
Grade 5 students also had a wonderful winter break, recommending two of their favorite films and one favorite book, as well as turning into young photographers to document their unique Chinese Spring Festival experience. For their math homework, students were asked to use their brains to design their own playground, using shapes and drawing on what they had learned in math. In addition to this, students went into the American War of Independence period. They chose a person involved in the war, and then researched that person and completed either two journal entries as though they were the person from the war, or a large poster that outlined the character's life and contributions.
The winter holiday homework is a collection of the students' past efforts. What will the students bring to the end of this term? Let's wait and see!
