Grade 11 CAS: Class Activities and Awards

February 21, 2023

During the CAS classes on February 15th, junior students gathered and hosted class activities together. The students designed the class activities with supervision from the homeroom teachers. These activities aimed to strengthen the bonds between individuals and help students warm up to the new semester. All classes tried their best to design several enjoyable activities.

Class 11(1) and 11(3) students participated in the games of "Guess the Childhood Photos” and "Guess theSongs”. Both games gained high popularity among students.

11(2) and 11(6) students from IB and AP programs conducted the games "Pose for the Photo!” and "TouHu” together. "Pose for the Photo!” featured 2 competing teams that would hold the randomly-revealed pose on the screen for 5 seconds while a picture was taken, and "TouHu” is a traditional Chinese game in which players are expected to throw arrows into a jar.

At the same time, 11(4) and 11(5) mainly focused on playing charades. In this game, all phrases were chosen from Chinese idioms and proverbs. Students were required to score within the time limit of 1 minute.

What’s more, 11(7) and 11(8) set up the games of “Perfect Square”, "Blind Retriever”, musical chairs, and academic-picture charades for more collaboration between students. "Perfect Square” was an innovative game in which participants had to construct a roped square from a circle under instructions from a leader. Students had immense fun figuring out their way in the dark. They also enjoyed an advanced version of the “Perfect Hexagon”! Musical chairs and charades were the games hosted by 11(9) and 11(10) students. They would often use internet slang and funny music, further building the difficulty of the two games. This also helped students get to know more about each other, prompting bonding between students.

As for February 23rd, activity monitors who had planned class activities for the CAS events joined together to present their ideas and the results of their designs. Every class monitor worked together with their partners to design intriguing events. This event reflected their creativity and imagination. The monitors were rated based on their presentations. Through fierce competition, First Place prizes were awarded to 11(7) & 11(8) and 11(9) & 11(10); Second Place prizes were awarded to 11(2) & 11(6); and Third Place prize were awarded to 11(1) & 11(3) and 11(4) &11(5). Congratulations to all the classes for jobs well done!
