Grade 9: Assembly - Stepping Out of the Comfort Zone

December 5, 2022

On Tuesday, November 29, the SHSID freshmen held their weekly assembly in the Lecture Hall in Zhentao Building. Maegen and Caitlyn from class 9(8) gave an excellent speech about stepping out of the comfort zone. In their speech, they compared the comfort zone with a hula hoop, and encouraged the students to “jump out” from their hula hoops and socialize with more people and express their own feelings. Socializing is very important because it helps with building more relationships, learning more things, and gaining new valuable experiences. For instance, in Caitlyn and Maegen’s example, when in your comfort zone, you might just blindly accept wrong facts, like taking apples for bananas because someone else told you so. But when you’re out of it, you’ll be less afraid to point out obviously wrong facts. When they finished, they received a loud round of applause from the audience.
