Grade 10 Assembly: Passion for Rowing

December 5, 2022

In the morning of Nov. 30, Grade 10 student, Henry, hosted a lecture in the lecture hall in ZTB. The lecture focused on his passion for rowing and the competition he recently participated in.

Henry first established the difference between dragon boats, canoes, sailing boats, and rowing boats. He said, up until now, he has been participating in professional rowing training for more than two years. He first simulated rowing repeatedly on the land; and then trained repeatedly oar by oar in a water rowing boat, gradually improving his physical fitness , and skills in rowing. With a sense of control, rowing has now become his favorite sport. Last year, Henry and three members of the rowing club participated in a rowing competition. This was also the first time he himself participated in such a large-scale professional competition. He performed so well at the first try that the team won the team championship in their level.

Looking back on the boat-rowing experiences in the past years, Henry felt that he has benefited a lot. This sport has not only enhanced his physical fitness and concentration, but also improved his individual perseverance. More importantly, he believes that rowing has brought him to the conclusion that teamwork is essential. The team's burst of strength, the spirit of mutual encouragement, and dedication among team members are what he cherishes the most.

Finally, Henry sincerely hopes that more students will realize the charm of rowing: not only the training and competitions, or the trophies and honors, but also the selfless enjoyment and fulfillment.
