Social Science Department: Ms. Chen Danqing's Teaching Case Selected for the Sharing of Excellent Achievements from the "Zhentao Project"

November 28, 2022

Since the launch of the "Zhentao Project" in SHSID high school, many teachers from the Social Science Department have participated in the systematic and in-depth training of the project. At the end of November, Ms. Chen Danqing from the department reported and shared her open class teaching case with the teachers. The teachers inside and outside the department also actively participated in the comments and discussions to learn from each other and improve together.

Ms. Chen’s open class on international trade closely follows the trending international issues. During the online teaching period, she simulated the situation of multilateral trade friction resolution when the WTO Ministerial Conference was held, allowing students to play the roles of different countries based on real cases , letting them take the lead to share and express opinions, so as to jointly form and understand the core concepts for their study. In order to serve as trade representatives of different countries, students needed to combine background materials and their own research from the perspective of their own, explain their positions on multilateral trade frictions under the current international situation and negotiate solutions. These topics include: How does the conflict affect trade among countries? How to combat supply chain shocks and global inflation fueled by the US-China trade war? etc., and thus she was able to guide the students to use speculation and persuasion to understand the interests of all parties, and finally understand the importance of communication and cooperation from conflicts and debates, which not only exercised the ability to express effectively, but also to understand the complexity of multilateral trade .

Teachers in and out of the department carefully commented on Ms. Chen's teaching content and teaching process in this sharing, and actively discussed and inspired each other on the Blackboard platform, forming an atmosphere of mutual help and learning.
