Lingang Grade 1: Light up the Classroom with Creativity in the Fall

October 31, 2022

In October, the first-grade students of SHSID Lingang Campus have successfully passed their first month of study and adjustment on the picturesque campus. The classrooms in October were often filled with children's laughter and imaginative works, and the teachers inspired the children's creativity with their carefully-designed curriculum activities.

If you walked into the first-grade science classroom in early October, you would have been fascinated by the architectural structures built with only paper and transparent tape. Some of them looked like skyscrapers, while others looked like sturdy bridge piers. The children, in the role of little designers, first drew a draft of the building structure, then made a model, and after completion, they reflected and modified it through experimentation, not only fully experiencing the design process, but also allowing their dexterous hands and active minds to cooperate perfectly.

If you walked into last week's English class, you would have noticed that the first graders were enthralled by the books created by author Mo Willems. In this week's English class, the children began by getting to know the author and slowly stepped into his cartoon world, with interesting characters and lively storylines that kept almost every child engaged. As a result, when the children appeared in the classroom on the last day wearing their hand-made character costumes, it was as if Gerald the elephant with a broken trunk, Pigeon riding the school bus, the cute little ghost and Piggie had all appeared in the room! The children's active participation awakened their imagination, and a boat loaded with "creativity" appeared in the sea of reading, which was carrying the children to sail away.

Let's step into the art class to see! As the children picked up their brushes, the lines and colors transformed into a vivid and unique painting, brightening up the campus with color in the fall.

If you look up at the blue sky of Lingang in autumn, you will definitely stop for the clouds of different colors, just like the infinite creativity in the minds of our children, which are in the natural paradise of the school.
