Grade 9: Assembly - Go for the Future

October 27, 2022

On Tuesday, October 25th, SHSID freshmen gathered in the Zhentao Building lecture hall to begin their school day with a grade-wide assembly.

Ms. Yu, the director of 9th grade, first gave the long-awaited announcement of the winner for the inter-class 3-vs.-3 basketball tournament. As an excellent way to promote athletic passion and lighten academic pressure, the tournament had been a hugely popular event among all students, whether they played in the tournament or simply went to cheer on their schoolmates. Those same students whooped and clapped as a student representative went to receive the prize.

Ms. Yu then handed the stage to Nicole from class 9(4) who spoke to her peers about the changes her personality had undergone since primary school. She talked about how paying too much attention to other peoples' perceptions had once affected her a lot, and considering them wisely had helped her gain more confidence. Nicole explained how focusing less on flaws one possesses currently and widening their perspective of the future is a much more practical and positive mindset. The story of her growth and her empathetic advice drew a loud round of applause from the audience.

Lastly, Minnie from class 9(1) and James from class 9(2) represented the ASB in a promotion for Blackout, a Halloween-themed event that would take place three weeks later, which brought the assembly to a close on a happy note.
