G4-G5 Math Team: Teachers’ Professional Development Boosts Teaching
On the teachers’ Professional Development Day of the first semester of school year 2022, G4 and G5 math teachers held teaching seminars to prepare for the upcoming Math Week and math project.
G4 math teachers have discussed and designed a variety of math games for the upcoming Math Week combining what students have learnt in class and what they knew in real life. In addition, teachers elaborately designed the math project - New Year's party - based on new math knowledge students have learned this semester. It is believed that students can fully appreciate the mystery and fun of math in the project, activities and games.
G5 seminar was held on the topic of preparation for the Math Week. Retained the topic of measuring Zhongxing Building, G5 math teachers made corresponding adjustments to the plan of Math Week, combining their experience of implementing the project last year. Teachers enriched the group discussion in order to make steps clearer for students to follow. Students can also have more evidence to review and reflect their learning process based on their experience.
Although teachers’ Professional Development Day is short, it is a critical time for teachers to stop and reflect, explore, study and discuss. Under the discussion, the activities of math week and math project fits students' life and study more, and will play a greater role in the process of their learning. Please look forward to the upcoming activities.
