Puxi Campus Grade 1: Does Each Apple Have the Same Number of Seeds?

September 29, 2022

This week, the fun science class had the most anticipated experimental class for children, which revolves around a fruit that children are familiar with -- apple.

The experiment was filled with lots of guessing and students needed to find out if all apples have the same number of seeds. It started with a review of inquiry skills. After the experiment began, the pre-sliced apples were given to each student. Then, each student was like a scientist, digging out the seeds from the apple. They took toothpicks to find the apple seeds intently, and carefully dug them out. As a group, the students counted how many seeds their apples had. Some found 9 seeds, while others found 3 seeds. By the end of the experiment the students realized that all apples do not have the same number of seeds.

This experiment taught the students how to use certain inquiry skills as well as practice using the scientific method. It was an experiment the students will definitely remember!
