Grades 9-10: ASB Elections

Before the last two periods of September 14th, students filed into the auditorium, once again chattering amongst themselves, wondering who would the new ASB crew consist of. Once the host announced the rules, the ASB election began. All the candidates brandished their talents and advantages, in ways including but not limited to cool videos, inspiring quotes, and jokes that never fail to crack audiences up. After all the candidates had a chance to display themselves came the toughest but most exciting stage of the election — the Q&A session. Candidates would get a question that was related to the ASB at random, and they had to answer after only 30 seconds of consideration. With each answer, they demonstrated their passion for the ASB and the reasons they deserve the position.

Lastly, just before the final votes, every candidate got to say one single sentence to win over the audience. Some were serious, others humorous, arousing another round of laughter from below. And that was the end of event, with everyone giving out their final votes before heading home.

No matter the result, all candidates deserve a big round of applause. Just as candidates have said, the ASB is a community, and SHSID is a community made of people who go through life with each other, help each other, and love each other. With excitement, let’s look forward to the birth of a new ASB crew, and the wonderful semester they surely will bring us.
