Grade 7 YD class: X-factor Clubs introduction

September 9, 2022

As the summer proceeds, September 1st and a warm welcome back to school arrives. All students must be very excited on the first day of school after a long and relaxing summer vacation. Newcomers may also feel excited, perhaps with a little uncertainty, as students will start a new page of school life in SHSID and soon become familiar with the new environment. Students will interact with new schoolmates, study new subjects, join new activities and use new facilities. To all 7th graders, one of the best ways to introduce themselves in the new semester is through group activities and after-school clubs. Here are a few introductions for them:

Model United Nations

For Students who are eager to present themselves and care about the international crisis, the Model United Nations is a good choice. The club is an educational simulation of the United Nations and its various committees. Throughout the process, students will have the chance to meet people around the world and experience foreign cultures without getting too far away from their home. Students learn about the world and become acquainted with diplomacy and international issues. Members promote global citizenship, political awareness, and discourse.

World Scholars Cup

If one enjoys debate, trivia and critical thinking, then this is the club for them. The mission of the World Scholars Cup is to motivate students of all backgrounds to discover new strengths and practice new skills. They aim to inspire a global community of future scholars and leaders.

Hobbify

If none of the clubs mentioned before arouse interest, then take a look at this “customizable” club. Hobbify is a place where students can dig into interests in learning for the sake of learning and experience new things. It also contains skills and activities that are not school related or academic. The essential goal for students is to have fun and enjoy learning and discovering. A bonus point is that it is a student-run club which comes back to what we started with: socializing with students from all grades and levels.

Surprisingly, these 3 examples are only a small part of almost 100 clubs that we have, including a Kendama club, a Chess club and a Rock Band club that leads students to the world of rock music. With that, we have come to the end of today’s journey and we hope that every student found this useful!
