Grade 10 Parents Meeting

In order to strengthen the communication between parents and the school, the Grade 10 online Parents Meeting was held on the evening of September 8th.

After signing up, all the parents entered the meeting room in an orderly fashion. Principal Ma Feng started the first session of the parents meeting with an inspirational speech. He introduced the educational philosophy of SHSID, along with the diversified curriculum system, efficient teaching methods, and the constantly improving evaluation systems and management mechanisms in high school. Next, Principal Ma recalled the college application results of the class of 2022 and the career and academic development of several alumni after their graduation from SHSID. There is no single template for the path of growth. Principal Ma invited parents to together help students’ development as a “whole” person and to contribute to students’ efforts in becoming their best selves.

After that, IB/AP coordinator Dr. Erin Jiang introduced the high school curriculum of SHSID, especially the IB and AP program. SHSID provides students with diversified and high-quality courses. A detailed college application plan is also tailored for each student. Ms. Cui Mengdi from the College Counseling office then introduced the college application guidance resources provided by the school for parents. With abundant mentoring resources and efficient platforms, students are highly encouraged to pursue their dreams. Next, the principal’s assistant for high school English curriculum, Mr. Adam Nikolich, introduced the innovation and practice courses of high school. From gateway courses, project-based learning courses, to Beyond courses taught by university professors, the student-centered curriculum helps students explore themselves and society in depth.

The second session of the parents meeting was held in separate meeting rooms hosted by subject teachers. They elaborated on the colorful courses provided to students and also patiently answered the questions that parents were concerned about. The Grade 10 parents meeting ended successfully around 20:00. We believe that the harmonious communication between parents and school will continue to help with students' future growth.
