January 4, 2022

On December 29th, tenth-grade student Chelsea enlightened her peers about the ways they can contribute to the prevention of climate change in her speech which took place at the Zhentao Lecture Hall. Chelsea presented a fictional universe called “Chi Chi Land” and the people there live the ideal lifestyle which can contribute to the prevention of global warming. The actions that Chelsea recommended include eating less meat or becoming a vegetarian, using metal straws, taking public transport when traveling, and minimizing the consumption of goods. Chelsea noted that one of the reasons why people should become vegetarians is because livestock is responsible for around ten percent of global greenhouse gases. At the end of her speech, Chelsea mentioned the school club she created called “SYCLE” which holds events that aim to raise public awareness of the global warming situation and other activities like organizing children’s book donations as a way of reusing books.
