Lingang Campus Grade 1: Chinese “The Beauty of Chinese Characters”

Everyonehas a unique symbol that represents them—their name. Even though some people share the same names, each name is still endowed with a different meaning when a child was born.For grade one studentstounderstand the story behind their names, a project called “The Beauty of Chinese Characters” was carried out in their Chinese classes.

This project required students to choose one character from their names and draw a picture after discussing it with their parents. Till 27th December, all grade one students at the Lingang campus finished talking about the hidden meanings in their names, such as fortitude, freedom, love, etc. Each name holds different origins and parental expectations. Through this activity, students inquired into their names, enhanced their speaking skills, and also got to feel the beauty of Chinese characters.
