SHSID Chess Club Achieved Great Progress

The SHSID Chess Club not only popularizes chess to students new to chess, but also provides supports for students to compete in international chess competitions. Under the guidance of Coach Cai, students made rapid progress and won multiple championships in major international competitions. Such competitions were attended by masters from different countries including professional chess players and International Masters. More excitingly, some students in the club entered the national teams of their countries of citizenship.

As the chief leader of the chess club, Philip has been responsible for leading and recruiting for SHSID Chess Club. In addition to his excellent leadership and organizational skills, he won second place in the North American Chess Competition participated by more than 100 players from different countries. After this competition, he won the G12 group champion in the American Coast to Coast Scholastic Competition. He took part in FIDE Online Cadets & Youth Rapid World Cup 2021 as a USA team member and almost got China National Master. Philip is not only able to make outstanding achievements in chess but is also willing to help his classmates. He helps solve the problems of his classmates in chess.

Jiang has demonstrated a genuine passion for the game of chess since Grade 10. Under the instruction of a chess coach, he improved rapidly, spending hours memorizing theories and solving puzzles both inside and outside the classroom, eventually beating out chess masters and winning the Coast to Coast Scholastic with a performance rating of 2,400. He has also obtained two (2) grade prizes and achieved National Rank 1 under the Chinese Chess Association. He gained these accomplishments with his efforts in overcoming difficulties and his passion for pursuing excellence.

As the leader of the SHSID Chess Club, Chelsea has shown her leadership in leading and recruiting for the club. Being a female chess player, she has participated in competitions and achieved solid results competing against male players, achieving titles on both the Shanghai and China levels. As a member of the school team, she made great contributions to the school's win in the Shanghai competition.

As the vice leader of the chess club, Max helps to organize club activities and maintain a great balance of academics and interests. He was the group champion of the U.S. National Championships, with worldwide professional chess players taking part in it.
