Mole Day: Nobel Awakening

October 29, 2021

At noon on October 27th, students set up activity booths on the first floor of Zhentao Building to celebrate Mole Day. This year marks the 120th anniversary of the award of the Nobel Prize. On Mole Day, the students also organized a special lecture on the 2021 Nobel Prize in Chemistry to describe the principles of organic catalytic reactions. In addition to the practice sessions such as quick answers to questions and knowledge quizzes, students in different groups also prepared experiments in various forms to attract onlookers to participate. Among them, the growing elephant toothpaste, the colorful underwater garden, the shiny new clothes of iron wire, and the pure white and flawless artificial snowflakes amazed the students. In addition, some participants of the research group introduced their current projects to their classmates, including enzyme-directed catalysis, gene editing, etc. Such interdisciplinary projects added a touch of mystery to the chemistry festival and inspired students to actively explore the mysteries of science and nature and also contribute to the development of human society.
