Grade 11: Experience on Art
On May 27, juniors once again gathered in Xianmian annex for a weekly Assembly. Director Yu welcomed Jacqueline Xu from 11(3) to share her experience on art.
“Each time the theme is a new breakthrough, a new point of view, with a new form to reflect social, personal and other issues,” said Jacqueline. To her, creating art pieces may be tiresome, but the outcome would always be meaningful in the end. A project that she has recently finished, called Flower National, demonstrates how flower is not just a simple creature that reproduce in nature but can also possess many meanings and purposes of its own. While working on this art piece, she used one-way mirrors to create the effect that the installation would only glow in complete dark environment. The refraction of the mirrors is able to create an illusion that there is an infinite extension to mimic a sea of flowers. After completing this project, Jacqueline hoped to express that flowers can be a representative of love, which has eternal beauty and irreplaceable status.
In the end, Jacqueline encouraged all students to always stand for what they believe, don’t give up, don’t hesitate, and don’t overthink.
