Middle School Section: SHSID Students Achieve Good Results In The Table Tennis Tournament

The “Shanghai No.4 High School Cup” table tennis tournament of “2021 Xuhui District Students Sunshine Sports League” for high school students was held on May 22nd and 23rd at the Shanghai No.4 High School. Twenty middle school teams and twelve high school teams with more than 200 students participated in the tournament.

The tournament started from group round-robin matches. The top two teams of each group entered into the next round. Although facing many strong opponents, SHSID students strived hard, challenged calmly, and united as one.

SHSID’s middle school girls team won third place in the tournament. With only a slight gap of 2:3, they fell behind the strong opponent Southwest Weiyu Middle School team and missed the championship. Still, Well done, SHSID girls!

Short of one team member, SHSID’s middle school boys team still managed to win the group round-robin and enter into the final round. The four boys were exhausted after the group round, but they held on till the last game. They are our heroes!

Despite the busy schedule of our high school students and the short preparation time, the students made rapid progress in this competition and performed superbly. Gratitude to the school for their strong support to the team and students’ love of table tennis and the guidance of coach Zheng. Congratulations to the SHSID Middle School team for winning the Group Award of the tournament.

In this competition, our students gained a lot. They exchanged table tennis techniques with each other and got to know many new ping pong friends. We hope that their passion for table tennis will continue to grow and that they will be able to play in more tournaments and achieve good results!
