Grade 9: Survival Training Program
On May 7th, the ninth graders set off to Sun Moon Island to start the two-day-long survival-training program. The program included many interesting activities such as trekking, rock-climbing, kayaking, canoeing, and many other fun teambuilding exercises. Furthermore, for one night, the students got to sleep in tents in the wilderness.
Right after the ninth graders had arrived, they were split evenly into twelve groups. These 12 groups were then formed into larger groups made of 4 smaller groups. These larger groups then set out to complete their own individual activities — rock-climbing, kayaking, canoeing, and trekking.
After coming back, the students set up their tents and went to dinner where News Group interviewed some of the students. Their feedback was rather mixed, of all the people interviewed, the most common critique was that the events were planned out well, though some could have been improved in terms of execution. However, despite these small points of constructive feedback, most still enjoyed some aspects of the trip. Some were excited about staying in a tent overnight. Others were excited to hang out with their friends. Even more enjoyed the teambuilding exercises and meeting new people.
In this two-day tiring but a fulfilling survival-training program, the ninth-grade students not only appreciated the beautiful natural scenery, but also exercised their own qualities, and enhanced the understanding and friendship between the students. It was a worthwhile and enjoyable experience!
