Puxi Campus Grade 4: Career Day Field Trip at McDonald’s
After the parents’ career sharing activity held on April 29th, SHSID grade four carried out a career day field trip at McDonald’s. Eight fourth-grade classes arrived at McDonald’s chain stores in the afternoon and carried out their study.
After an appetizing meal, students were divided into three groups and took turns participating in various activities. One group of the students put on caps and face masks and explored the kitchen, storage, and assembly line. By observing the division of labor and adept operations in the kitchen, students realized why the kitchen could provide food to customers so efficiently. With attentive observation, students also found out that each food has a precise cooking time to ensure the quality and uniformity of the tastes.
The second activity is DIY your McDonald’s food! Students had the precious opportunity to use the ice-cream machine to make ice-cream cones on their own, which seemed to be more tasty than usual. Students also designed and made their personal hamburgers and brought them home. Meanwhile, McDonald’s staff introduced the origin and production of coffee. Students closely observed the latte art and were amazed by the beauty of it.
Last but not least, managers at McDonald’s introduced the history and culture of this international restaurant corporation. McDonald’s business is not just about providing meals of high quality but also cares about environmental protection and social awareness. It showed students the social responsibility of a world-wide company and inspired students to be a global citizen who contributes to the society.
The career day ended successfully with a prize giveaway. We would love to show our sincere appreciation to Angela’s mom and her fantastic team for their thoughtful arrangement, to PTSA representative Stephanie’s mom for her crucial support, and to all the McDonald’s staff for assisting students in having this wonderful experience at McDonald’s. We hope this awarding visit could be the starting point for students to keep exploring themselves and find a passion for future careers.
